Trump sparks more fears of cognitive decline after fumbling answer on student visas

“Trump doesn’t know what is going on. He is president by tweet only.”

Fresh concerns have been sparked about President Donald Trump’s health

Fresh concerns have been sparked over U.S. President Donald Trump‘s health.

Internet users expressed worry about the 78-year-old president’s cognitive abilities after needing to ask a reporter several basic follow-up questions before responding. For several years, some have raised concerns about Trump’s health and cognitive abilities.

A reporter asked President Trump on Wednesday if the administration planned on resuming foreign student visa interviews, to which he struggled to answer.

“When could the administration resume interviews for foreign students visa?” the reporter asked, to which Trump replied, “On what?” The reporter responded, “Foreign student visas,” to which he followed-up, “For the French?” She replied, “All the foreign students.”

Again, Trump asked another clarifying question, getting seemingly agitated, “What are you referring– foreign visas for what? Are you talking about for colleges?” She confirmed yes.

He made a remark that the reporter had changed topics from the previous question before proceeding to answer.

Several users replied to a viral clip of the interaction posted by Journalist Aaron Rupar on X, expressing concern.

“Trump doesn’t know what is going on. He is president by tweet only,” one X user wrote.

Several opined that the president was playing dumb to evade answering. “That ability to avoid answering anything serious should be studied,” one said. Another suggested, “Someone clearly coached him to develop selective hearing loss when the questions are tough.”

Several users tagged CNN anchor Jake Tapper, who just released a scathing book about an alleged cover-up of President Joe Biden’s health and cognitive decline. The book was released around the same time that Biden announced that he had been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.

@jaketapper who’s running this show for this old man? Because this one also has no idea what is going on,” one user wrote. Another added, “But does he recognize George Clooney?” referencing a disturbing anecdote from Tapper’s co-written book.

The question comes the day after the administration announced the international student visa application pause following Harvard’s retaliatory lawsuit against the federal government.

Harvard filed a suit against the Trump administration after it moved to ban the Ivy League from enrolling international students. Harvard has argued in the suit that the administration’s action violates the First Amendment.

The lawsuit marks the latest escalation in the tense weeks-long battle between the administration and the Ivy League, which was the first to stand up against Trump amid his targeted campaign to suppress “anti-American” speech on college campuses.
