Japan’s JAL and ANA post revenue surge despite Trump tariffs

TOKYO — Japan’s two key airlines reported strong earnings in the April-June quarter, as their tourism and cargo businesses thrived despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.

Japan Airlines announced on Wednesday that its revenue for the quarter rose 11% year-on-year to 471 billion yen ($3.18 billion). It reported a net income of 27 billion yen, a 94% jump over the previous year.
